BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

Not that I believe in WISHES per say. I believe in God's souverenity and knowledge of all things so wishes are a stretch but, with that said if we really knew what we would get when we do wish for things I think we might be much more careful. Here are some examples of what I mean.

1. Do we really wish for that new car?
2. Do we really wish for all the difficulty in our daily lives to simply go away?
3. Do we really wish for complete silence?
4. Do we really wish for a million dollars?
5. Do we really wish for one more day?
6. Do we really wish for that new job?

Like I said before do we want a new car if God wants to bless us in His time not ours. If we have no difficulty in daily life why do we need Him? If it is completely silent we miss out on laughter, children's prayers and all the noises that make us feel alive. Will that million fill the void we feel? Even if it will build the building would we miss out on the reliance and faith we grow in the process? Do we really want one more day knowing that is one more day without being face to face with our maker? Do we want a job that does not drive us to Him on a daily basis seeking His will & His face for each step. I would argue probably not. But there are probably some who would say I am rambling and so random. Maybe ? let me know?

larry's grandma used to say to him when was busy wishin'......wish in one hand and poop in the other and just see which one fills up first! that is not a very grandmotherly thing to say i know (and she didn't say poop either-she said another word!) but it does have a bit of wisdom buried somewhere in it...wishing, unlike dreaming, planning and, most importantly praying, usually has no productive end. all this to say...you are right on track when you say be careful what you wish for. bb :):):)

I know for a fact my wishes (or maybe I should call them my excessive desires) get me in trouble. I need to be satisfied...thankful for what I have.

Thanks for reminding me!
