Taking Things for Granted

You always hear people say I take that for granted.
well I am no different and after this past weekend I am going to do my
best to not have to say that anymore.
I had the privilege to spend
an entire 24 hours with my oldest daughter. We rarely get uninterrupted
time and this weekend was a huge
blessing. We actually heard what each other had to say , we played
& laughed together. And we reminded each other that we need to
communicate clearly with each other so we can better meet each others
needs. There is nothing I would trade for that time with her. She and I
seem to be too much alike and bless her heart she is going to get my nose but as rachel says "we will just have to make our peace with that."
But this past weekend reminded me that my time with her is short and my
job with her is big. I want to make sure she knows she can talk to me
about anything and I will listen. That she is very important to me and
that
I love all my children equally. As a wise Friend said I would not deny
this child anything within my power to give her. I am truly blessed!!!

The other thing I will no longer take for granted is the little things with The Dad. I spent this past Monday
with him taking him to the doctor and to lunch and to the store. I know
this does not sound like much but, I did not have to wheel him into any
of these places. he ate his whole lunch without getting sick and walked
himself all over the grocery store. These are things he has not been
able to do in at least 2 months. I will do my best not to take for
granted his Independence as a blessing.

I hope everyone has the chance to see a different perspective in life and learn not to take things for granted.

This is something that I am working on right now. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the day to day business of life and forget what a gift the day really is. In the perfect world none of us would take anything forgranted.

You don't have to call me wise. I'll keep all your secrets anyway. :-)

Also, loved what you said...my time with her is short, my job with her is big. Good reminder to make the most of every day. Thanks!

Also, I am rejoicing with you over the continued healing of your Dad!!
