Back In the Day

This blog was inspired by an article I read in today's paper.

Back in the day Orange juice came frozen in a can and had to be mixed up.
Back
in the day coke came in glass bottles that we put in our cold Utah
garage and we turned in the empty glass bottles for refund money.
Back in the day I typed all my school papers on a electric typewriter
Back in the day you could only record one show at a time on TV and it was to a video tape.
Back in the day you bought cassette tapes of the music you wanted and listened to is on you Walkman
Back in the day the only thing you surfed was the ocean
Back in the day downloading meant getting the stuff off the pickup truck
Back in the day uploading meant you picked it up to put it on the pickup truck
Back in the day the cool people wore Guess jeans and Polo Cologne
Back in the day ...... You tell me.......

I can still only record one show at a time, only on a VHS tape, and only if I can figure out how to work the stupid VCR.

Back in MY day, walkmans weren't around yet (that was a college days thing). Way back in the day I played 45s on my red turntable in my room.

Jordache jeans and Izods.

Yes I also had a turn table in my den that played records in fact my dad still has it with his records . I am sure Kearsdad remembers moving it all.

Back in the day kids could play all over the nighborhood...parents didn't have to fear for their safety as much.

Keds were really cool for even teenagers.

I was "high- tech" because I had a VCR and new how to program it...now I have an ipod and have to call JB to get the thing to turn on.

Oh, how times have changed...

I remember wearing Levis and what we called "disco shirts." I had white leather Nike's with a red swoosh. We wore Yo-yo's to church. And carried macrame purses. Later, it was high-top Tretorns. And Keds.

Barrettes with those braided ribbon things. Tight-rolled jeans. Big ole shirts. Huge belts.

Riding my bike till supper time. Playing kick the can with the ENTIRE neighborhood.

Cassettes replaced 8-tracks. My mama still has some of those at her house.

Good grief. I could go on for days.

Also, you gotta love that Tech-no. But seriously, I don't think she's ever asked how to turn the thing on...well, now that I think of it...maybe. Hmmmmm

Yes I agree. I got to ride my bike for hours around my neighborhood now i don't even let my kids go one street over without me. I Love the time of tight rolled jeans ,big shirts and big hair, big belts, GREAT music and MTV. What a time.

Back in the day catching fireflys and making glowing rings. Listening to the baseball games with grandparents on the radio outside in the summer drinking (get this junebug) iced-cold unsweetened tea. I also played lots of kick-the-can. Ok, I don't have time to think so far back, but thanks for the memory.

SUG - I found your site and it inspired me to go through some OLD pictures. My favorite...me on my dad's cell phone...it was a brick! You know the kind that was literally the size of a brick and had a cord and a bag!ha!
